Why a Bilingual English-Vietnamese Bible?
Praise God that after many years of work and collaboration, Vietnam Ministries, Inc. can joyously introduce the New Testament Bilingual English-Vietnamese Bible NIV-VMI. Since 1999, VMI has worked closely with IBS to translate the NIV Bible with the dream of bringing to fruition a Bible suitable for both native Vietnamese and English speakers, inside and outside of the Church. VMI's hope is that readers will be able to use the Bible to learn more about God's truth, teach His ways, and that it will meet the needs of a continually growing church.
IBS and UBS have provided a great deal of support to VMI through training courses to translate and edit the Bible with the purpose of bringing God's Word to our fellow people groups. With their help, we have completed the New Testament using the NIV, a widely used translation.
What are the principles for Vietnamese translation?
- Accuracy, clarity, naturalness, and faithfulness to the Hebrew and Greek original texts
- Corresponding translation of the English language used in the NIV
- Phonetic translation of personal, object, and geographic names to reflect the original languages and the English text
- Use of modernized Vietnamese language and cultural adaption for readers to understand and pronounce.
What are the special features?
- Introduction and outlines of each book of the Bible
- Cross-references and annotations in the middle bar
- Extra footnotes at the bottom to provide the reader a valuable resource to study and discover the Word of God daily.
- The words of Jesus Christ in red print.
When is the Bilingual NIV Bible to be completed?
